Cops: Local Teacher Sells iPad Stolen From School

Investigators say Julia King, a former Dunedin Highland Middle School teacher who transferred to East Lake High, pawned the stolen iPad at a local Best Buy. She was arrested Friday in Palm Harbor.

A local schoolteacher was arrested Friday in Palm Harbor and charged with pawning an iPad that had been stolen from her former school.

Investigators with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office say Julia King, 34, sold the iPad for $145 to a local Best Buy in April. Detectives began investigating the case in September 2011 after the device was reported stolen from Dunedin Highland Middle School.

King had been employed at Dunedin Highland Middle before later transferring to East Lake High School, according to deputies. East Lake High's online staff directory lists King as a social studies teacher.
