Longtime Firefighter Retires After 39 Years

Chief May served the East Lake community for more than 39 years. He began his career as a volunteer with the department at age 16.

East Lake Fire Rescue' Assistant Chief Tom May (at left) recently retired after serving 39 years with the fire department. He is receiving an honorary fire ax to commemorate his service to the community. East Lake Fire Rescue Chief Tom Jamison (at right) presented May with the ax.

East Lake Fire Rescue held a retirement ceremony on Friday, Sept. 28 for Assistant Chief Tom May.  

Chief May served the East Lake community for more than 39 years. He began his career as a volunteer with the department at age 16.  

East Lake Fire Rescue and the community thank Assistant Chief May for making a substantial impact on East Lake Fire Rescue for his dedication to the community.
