We spotted this small gator while waiting at the red light at the intersection of Tampa Road and the northbound exit lane off McMullen Booth Road.

The gator appeared to have wandered out of the Tarpon Outfall Canal, and it looked like he could not decide if he wanted to cross Tampa Road. After looking out on to the road for about a minute, he scampered back toward the water.

The gator looked like he was about 2-3 feet long.

"The gator looked like he was about 2-3 feet long."

Then again, male gators are known to exaggerate :) Good catch!

Ha! Funny, Anne! On a more serious note, I'm glad there weren't any curious kids in the area at the time. Even though he was not a big gator, it looked like he could still do some harm.

interesting area to find a gator! There aren't any houses or anything in that area.. just road and buildings (dr office park next to that retention pond) No worry of children or even pets in danger. I'd be more concerned with the gator getting into traffic

I live near here and there are alligators all around. They are not going to hurt you unless you come after them. I am glad this one made it back to the water. I watch and take pictures of them all the time.
