This is the fifth year that the North Pinellas YMCA in East Lake is holding a food basket drive to benefit military families.

Every year that the Y has held the drive, it's been able to gather enough food to make 100 baskets that include a $20 gift card for turkey and fresh foods.

The baskets are distributed to families of military service men and women who've been identified as having a need. Many of the families have a spouse serving overseas or a loved one who is recovering from an injury.

Non-perishable items needed for the food baskets include-

  • Mashed potatoes
  • Stuffing
  • Chicken broth
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned pumpkin or other fruit filling
  • Pie crust mix or pre-made pie crust
  • Gravy mix
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Turkey roasting bag
  • Foil roasting pan
  • Any other items you'd like to include
  • $20 gift card from a local grocery store

Donations will be accepted through Nov. 20.

You can drop off your donation at the North Pinellas YMCA in East Lake, which is located at 4550 Village Dr.; (727) 772-9622.
