Youngster Makes a Difference with Conservation Efforts

Avalon Theisen, founder of the non-profit Conserve It Forward, will be making an appearance at Brooker Creek Preserve on February 23 at 10:30 a.m.

Theisen will join Brooker Creek in the Family Herpetology Series II: Frogs presentation, which focuses on frogs and their crucial role they play in the environment.

According to the Conserve It Forward Facebook page, Theisen discovered her love for the environment and all its inhabitants when she was just 9 years old.

In 2010 she decided to start the non-profit organization, which promotes education and awareness through projects and presentations.

Theisen is now backed with a team of supporters and in 2012, Conserve It Forward became a tax exempt 501(c)(3) public charity.

Along with her accolades in the conservation community, Theisen's trophy room is chock full of awards, according to Conserve It Forward:

• August 2011 Save the Frogs! Student of the Month

• 2011 Everything Is Possible Award (Awarded by Friendly Water for the World, Inc.)

• 2011 International Young Eco Hero Award

The public is invited to Brooker Creek Preserve on Saturday, February 23 to meet Theisen and learn more about frogs and the environment.
