Author To Share Scoliosis Journey With East Lake

On Thursday evening, author Debra Ordes will be at a meet and greet book signing hosted by the Varsity Club.

With the release of her book, The Gift of Scoliosis, Debra Ordes has been propelled into the spotlight. She will meet with fans and supporters at 7:30 on Thursday at East Lake's Varsity Club.

The book, which was released last month, chronicles Ordes' thirty-five-year-long battle with scoliosis. It was co-written by orthopedic spine surgeon, Dr. Anthony Moreno.

According to an online synopsisThe Gift of Scoliosis features four accounts of the disease and its impact. Some of the situations were considered life threatening, but with support from volunteers, the outcomes were positive.

Her ongoing fight with the disease and decision to spread awareness has folks calling the compilation a "book of hope."

Ordes was dubbed "a great friend of the Varsity Club, the East Lake Firefighters and the whole East Lake Community" on the restaurant's Facebook page.

After a lifelong battle with the disease, Ordes is now the president of the Global Scoliosis Foundation.

The book will be available for purchase at the signing for $24.99 or folks can order it online. Ebook, Kindle and Nook versions of The Gift of Scoliosis are also available online for $7.99.
