Attention martial arts fans: Victory Martial Arts will have a special visitor at its second anniversary celebration Saturday in Palm Harbor.
Mike Chat, who is often referred to as the "Tony Hawk of martial arts," will be at the martial arts studio at 3 p.m. Jan. 19 to teach a special seminar. Chat will also sign autographs Saturday. The public is invited to attend.
Chat, whose full name is Mike Chaturantabut, is a seven-time World Forms and Weapons Champion and is known for portraying the Blue Power Ranger. He is the founder of Xtreme Martial Arts (XMA), which is based in Hollywood, CA. His school has trained more than 100 world champions in addition to training stunt doubles for Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Matt Damon and many more, according to the XMA website.
Victory Martial Arts director Chad Johnson is friends with Chat. Johnson says some of Chat's most notable students are Taylor Lautner of "Team Jacob" from the Twilight Series saga; Jaden Smith, who is actor Will Smith's son and starred in "The Karate Kid"; and Noah Ringer, who played the main character "Aang" in the movie The Last Airbender."
