If you're a politician in the negative sense of the word (as in "liar," "con artist," or "crook"), you probably need to stop reading this article right now. Why? Simple. The political landscape of America has been significantly tarnished by your presence. We never needed you before and we certainly don't want you now.
From my perspective, the main qualification for a candidate running for office today is that the person have a passion for serving others. I'll vote for someone who is a servant before I'll vote for anyone who is a politician.
What's the difference between a politican and a servant? Politicians know how to talk; servants know how to listen. Politicians say, "I need you to understand what I'm going to do when I get elected; servants say, "I need to understand what you believe is important for me to do if I get elected." Politicians are enamored by their importance and their office; servants are humble and embrace their repsonsibilties.
Strengthening the fabric of American life is a mission that can only be accomplished by a candidate with a servant's heart. So when you head to the polls in any election, please cast your vote for a leader who will serve you well.
