    Caregiver Stress

Always, always try and remember what it was that first attracted you to your spouse. During the rough patches dig deep and remember what that one spark was.
(If you can't find it, and you may not, it is okay. People do change. It's not your fault. Find something else close to it.)

Take time for each other. Kids, work, other obligations.....if you don't make time, then when there is time you may find you have nothing in common.

A relationship takes work. If you don't put in the effort, there will be no reward just like anything else in life.

And it can't be done alone. If one party keeps saying things need to change then they do. Don't for a minute think they won't move on without you. Some, but most may use that as a threat. Anyone that says they didn't see the divorce coming is a liar. Or if they are telling the truth- they didn't notice much else about their spouse, their home and their family, either. Not that I am pointing fingers, ahem.\

It is too easy to fall in a rut. I find it interesting that some people I know afford perfect strangers more respect than they do their own spouses. That is sad. With familiarity and intimacy should not come complacency and disrespect. On the contrary, especially if your spouse is also the parent of your children. Respect. That should always be number one. And don't take for granted. Say thanks. Dinner was good- thanks. My clothes are clean- thanks. You brought flowers- thanks.

How sad to hear---I was gonna say thanks. That always hurt me the most. Well what stopped you?
And , I know I am rambling. If you hit a rough spot , get help. Anyone who ever said, "I don't believe in therapy." Skipped the therapy and went straight to the divorce lawyer.
